Charity Events

Organised Science Fiction groups and individuals across the UK help to raise much needed funds for charity. There are many ways to do this, such as organising specific Sci-Fi events or helping to publicise someone else's event or library/school activity. Below is a gallery of photos/events where David has helped raise funds.

Corsham Sci-Fi charity event April 2010

The second annual Sci-Fi event on 17 April 2010 was an outstanding success and raised over £4,000 for worthy causes. All those involved gave their time and skill for free. The charities that benefitted were the British Heart Foundation, Marie Curie Cancer Care and PHAB.

Guests and fans came from all over the UK and even overseas. David Johnson held "open-house" writing workshops and story-telling sessions and gave away copies of his latest book as prozes throughout the day. The organisers also auctioned a signed set of his Crystal Quest books, which raised £55. (These were advance copies, prior to the official launch at the Earls Court London Book Fair on 19 April 2010!)

Charity Sci-Fi Fun Day 2011

The third annual Corsham Charity SCI-Fi Day on 9 April 2011 attracted over 1,500 people and raised at least £3,500 for worthy causes.(British Heart Foundation, PHAB and Marie Curie Cancer Care).

Children’s sci-fi author David Johnson had an advance preview of his new novel Battle for Atlantis. The book was officially launched at the London Book Fair at Earls Court on Tuesday 12 April. However, David offered to give away advance copies of the book as prizes at the Corsham event. David also auctioned free workshops and Crystal Quest T- Shirts as prizes.
