Married, living in the UK, with his family. His fascination with local places like Stonehenge, Avebury, and neighbouring Glastonbury has been central to establishing key elements of the Crystal Quest series and Battle for Atlantis follow-on. His love of overseas travel, British history, Sci-fi, films, books and current affairs have all contributed to his stories. Using references to local places, mixed with classic elements of sci-fi, he has blended them to create fast paced stories.
He designs and delivers creative writing workshops and gives presentations to schools. Many of his projects directly help raise funds for charity or support such groups as charitydaleks. His books have been used by schools as part of their literacy activities in the UK and abroad. He also gives talks and signings in book shops in the UK and abroad. He has also been a guest speaker at International writing events abroad and spoken at schools in New Zealand and Eire.
Previously David worked for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for over 30 years and has experience with writing/creating training, facilitation and running workshops. He has written, designed and run 1-2-1 skills transfers and a training programme for 250,000 MoD staff nationwide. During this he was awarded a Air Officers Commendation on the Queens Birthday Honours list. He is also qualified with the Chartered Institute of Personal Development (CTP), and has over 30 years of Government security clearance and a current CRB check/disclosure certificate. He has written a number of defence documents and training manuals and written and designed innovative in-house presentations and road shows.
For ten years he ran a successful international comic sales and marketing business. This also involved writing and drawing fantasy/comic, fanzines and running super-hero/sci-fi events and fairs. He has written and had published a number of in-house fictional/fantasy short stories in MoD periodicals.

David Johnson has been writing and drawing children's / young adults' sci-fi and heroic stories for years. His first work was published in 1978 entitled 'CDCN 2100'. Since then he has written short stories, articles and produced associated artwork. His current work 'Crystal Quest' is a children's science fiction paperback series. He has several other projects in the pipe line...
